Our Team

We have an outstanding team of educators that enrich our education department. The education team consists of Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Recreation Therapists, and Social Workers. We all work together to deliver the best and most current education available.

Janelle Wallace, LPN, B Ed      Manager, Education Services

Janelle Wallace has both her LPN and Bachelor of Education degree. As an LPN and College Instructor, she has worked in geriatric, psychiatric, OT and PT settings in both acute and continuing care facilities. Her professional training has enabled her to build innovative curriculum programs for both The Bethany Group and NorQuest College. Her passion for teaching has facilitated strong foundational skills for students entering the field of nursing. Her visionary leadership allows her to play a pivotal role on the educational team. “When you’re teaching in healthcare it’s evolving all the time,” explains Janelle. “I write a lot of educational content and sit on a number of committees, which helps me stay on top of best practices in healthcare and nursing. It’s challenging, but I love it. I love learning and in this job I’m learning every day.” Janelle is a geeky girl who enjoys movies, reading, listening to good music, kayaking, hiking, biking, and geocaching. 


Jill Moores      Education Assistant

Jill is the friendly voice you hear at the other end of the phone when you call to register for an education session or book a session. Her skills include managing and tracking all Outreach and staff education. Jill facilitates new employee orientation and helps to organize the team of educators and presenters. Jill plays a pivotal role in a number of training sessions whether it is setting up media or assisting with teaching Virtual Dementia and Basic Computer training. Jill loves to read, walk, and go swimming.


Lauren Hoyme, LPN      Educator

Lauren is an LPN with 15 years’ experience mainly focusing on orthopedics and rehabilitation in the elderly.  She is a certified CPR instructor. Lauren is an instructor in the Health Care Aide Program and is an educator on the Outreach P.I.E.C.E.S.™ team

She has three active children and enjoys running, volunteering and reading. 


Lois Wightman     Part-time Educator

Lois received her BA and BEd from Queen's University at Kingston, ON, and her LPN from SIAST (Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology) in Regina, SK.  Through the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension, she also earned certification in Adult and Continuing Education and in Teaching English as a Second Language. 

Lois has taught at secondary and college levels in several provinces. Her career in health care has included work as an LPN, OT/PT Assistant, Staff Educator and OHS Coordinator. 

She loves to travel and some of her favourite destinations are Italy, Argentina and Finland.


Marcail Knudson, MSc.OT     Part-time Educator

Marcail is an Occupational Therapist who graduated from the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Kinesiology. She worked as a Therapy Assistant where she fell in love with the field of Occupational Therapy. Marcail started her Masters at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine – Occupational Therapy in 2017.

After graduating from the program in 2019 she began working in rural Alberta within an acute care, outpatients and homecare setting.

Marcail started working for The Bethany Group in 2021 where she works as a frontline Occupational Therapist for the Rosehaven Provincial Program. Marcail is also an educator on the Outreach Education Team.

She loves camping, fishing and spending time with friends and family.


Tammy Kennedy     Part-time Educator

Tammy Kennedy works as a Social Worker with the Rosehaven Provincial Program and as an Educator with the Outreach Education Team. Tammy has worked with The Bethany Group for 12 years.

Tammy’s role as a Social Worker in the Rosehaven Provincial Program involves providing support to the resident’s, their families and the Interdisciplinary Team. As an Outreach Educator, Tammy has been involved with the PIECES program as a facilitator as well as a PIECES resources consultant working with the Rosehaven Interdisciplinary Team. Tammy further helps to support the Outreach Education Team in facilitating a variety of the education modules that they have to offer.

Tammy is a Mom to 2 young adults, and one Shih Tzu. She enjoys spending time with family, playing Piano for her church’s worship band, and gardening.
