The Bethany Group will be helping seniors from Trinity Place Foundation in Calgary affected by the recent flood by providing housing and support. The seniors will find a temporary home at Bashaw Valley Lodge recently vacated after residents moved into the new Bashaw Meadows facility earlier this year.
“We are pleased to have this opportunity to help other Albertans in need,” said Denis Beesley, President & CEO of The Bethany Group. “We could think of no better place than Bashaw to assist with this support, a community with a long tradition of caring and support. I know that the community will welcome them all even for a short time.”
Approximately 50 seniors will move into Bashaw Valley Lodge and the new Bashaw Meadows by the end of the month. It is expected they will be housed there until the end of August, when their home in Calgary will be restored after the flooding.
The Bethany Group will provide staffing and caring support for these seniors, including meals and furnishings, until they can move back to their homes. The organization is now recruiting temporary workers from the community to help in this regard.
“Our community has always been welcoming and supportive. We are already looking at options on how we can help these seniors during this difficult time, and give them a great temporary home.” said Penny Shantz, Mayor of Bashaw.
