On September 10th, the Governments of Canada and Alberta announced funding for the expansion of Rosealta Lodge in Camrose. This expansion will include the addition of 40 units to the existing 65-room lodge.
The funding is part of the Investment in Affordable Housing 2011-2014 Agreement between the Governments of Canada and Alberta.
The Right Honourable Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State (Finance) and the Honourable Verlyn Olson, Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development and MLA for Wetaskiwin-Camrose made the announcement at the lodge to a full room of residents, families, and staff.
As Verlyn Olson said, “With over 70% of Alberta’s seniors lodges located in rural Alberta, it is a significant undertaking to ensure communities are appropriately supported and that seniors have the option to stay close to family and friends.”
Mr. Max Lindstrand, Board Chair of the Camrose & Area Lodge Authority and City of Camrose Councillor, spoke to the crowd and thanked the governments for supporting the venture.
“With this expansion, we are able to deliver a sustainable lodge program for the residents of the City and County and continue to provide a friendly and inviting culture within our lodges for years to come,” said Max Lindstrand.
The Camrose & Area Lodge Authority and The Bethany Group presented a strategic vision for redeveloping the lodges in Camrose, which this funding will help to realize. The Bethany Group is excited about this announcement and will keep staff, residents, and families apprised of developments as the project moves forward.
