As part of the Annual Camrose Founders Days celebration, The Bethany Group will be hosting a morning tea on Friday August 15th from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. to showcase the Heritage Building (4612 - 53 St, Camrose) as it celebrates 100 years. Tours of the Rosehaven Courtyard gardens will be provided by members of the Horticulture Society, to display the beautiful gardening skills of volunteers, family members, residents and staff. The Bethany Group is fortunate to have the support of the Horticulture Society who assist in maintaining the Courtyards throughout the season.
The Heritage Building has a rich history, one that began as the Camrose Normal School in 1912 to train teachers. In 1915, the institution moved into a newly completed building, now known as the Heritage Building. In 1938, the building was turned over to the Department of National Defence where it had a new life helping the war effort.
In 1977, the Hon. Horst A. Schmid, Minister of Culture, recommended the building for designation as a provincial histroic resource.
